The majority of our donors are students at local universities, most in graduate or professional schools, who collect samples in the program for approximately one year. Cryobiology, Inc. has very high standards for acceptance into the donor program. Our acceptance rate is less than 10% of all potential donors screened. |

| Cryobiology has been and continues to be a leader in guaranteeing a certain number of motile sperm cells per vial — higher than anyone else in the business at our inception. We are also determined to ensure all donors on the donor list are available at the time of publication. We pioneered a Limited Availability section of our donor list to alert physicians and patients when the number of vials of a particular donor gets low. We have excelled in labeling our vials with our laboratory name and the donor number without any internal coding that may be unfamiliar to users of our samples. We then color coded vials to indicate donor ethnicities and labeled each vial with the ethnicity. Many of our competitors now have similar policies in place. In 1996, a Cryobiology trained technician established our first satellite facility, Pittsburgh Cryobank, a processing satellite of Cryobiology, Inc. for semen donors. In 2005, we proudly announced the opening of another satellite facility in La Crosse, WI, La Crosse Cryobank. The same screening, testing and acceptance protocols for donors are used at both facilities. Samples from acceptable donors are then processed, cryopreserved, and quarantined at the satellites until they are ready for release. Once deemed acceptable for release, the vials are shipped to Cryobiology for distribution. Donors processed at Pittsburgh Cryobank are designated by the “PC” prefix and a 4 digit donor number, while those processed at La Crosse Cryobank are designated by the “LX” prefix and another 4 digit number. Donors processed at Cryobiology are designated by the “CB” prefix and a 3 digit donor number. In addition, both satellites offer many other andrology related services. Client depositor semen banking for cancer, vasectomy, and surgery patients is available, as well as directed donor services for patients who want to choose a family member or friend to be a sperm donor exclusively for them. A wide range of andrology testing such as semen analysis, antibody testing and morphology is also available.Pittsburgh Cryobank and La Crosse Cryobank are staffed with well-qualified medical technicians under the direction of a PhD who is also certified as a high complexity laboratory director. La Crosse Cryobank is located in La Crosse, WI a couple of blocks from University of Wisconsin La Crosse. |
